Apollo was found as a stray and not reclaimed from a shelter. He is a beautiful, friendly boy who enjoys the company of other dogs and people. He seems to be between 2-3 years old. Apollo rides well in vehicles and will need some basic leash training. He is a purebred Great Pyrenees.
Ideal Home
Apollo is not good with small children in a home and can be protective of his home when strangers are visiting, though he has no problem with kids in public. Applicants must be over 25, own their own home, and all children in the household must be over 18 years old. Your resident pets must be up to date on vaccines, sterilized, have a good history of vet care for the past two years, and have used heartworm preventative year-round with proof of purchase. A securely fenced yard accessible from your home is a must. Invisible fencing will not work for this breed.

Training & Support
We recommend obedience training for all newly adopted Pyrs to help create a special bond and ensure a well-behaved companion. Great Pyrenees are willing to learn but are independent thinkers and not as eager to comply with commands as some other breeds. Apollo can be managed when strangers visit by crating him and giving him a treat-filled Kong.

- We also offer a foster-to-adopt program where you foster the dog and have first right of refusal if an approved adoption application is submitted.
- For fosters, the dog comes up-to-date on vaccines, but you may need to transport them for follow-up vaccines and sterilization. You provide good quality food and grooming, and we provide heartworm preventative and medical care (based on approval).
- For adoptions, a $100 nonrefundable deposit is required prior to taking the dog home. There is a two-week trial period. Any veterinary expenses incurred during the trial period are your responsibility unless you notify us prior to the vet visit. You may request the dog be groomed at your expense prior to pickup, which may delay the trial period. The adoption fee is $350.
