Gia

Gia is a sweet, 6-year-old Newfoundland who was born in May 2019. She's spayed and up-to-date on her vaccinations. Gia can be a bit of a pushy girl who loves to be the center of attention. She's not always aware of cues from other dogs and doesn't appreciate the energetic antics of puppies and adolescent dogs. Gia does have a canine companion in her foster home, Abby, who is also available for adoption. The two girls enjoy playing together in the yard and have complementary personalities. Gia generally ignores cats, but can be a bit put off by those who are overly affectionate. You'll notice from her photos that Gia is a drooler!

Ideal Home

Gia would thrive in a home with a fenced yard. Due to her dislike of ruckus from young dogs, she would not be a good fit for a home with very young children. She also tends to bark for attention, so a multi-family dwelling unit would likely not be ideal.

Ongoing Health

Gia experiences year-round allergies and requires a 1-16mg Apoquel pill daily with her meals.

Training & Support

Gia knows "sit" but no other commands. She is a strong puller on leash, described as the worst her foster has experienced. Adopters will need to be enrolled in a basic training class with an approved trainer prior to adoption.

Transporation

Gia is located in Minnesota. Adoptions must be finalized in person in Minnesota, and adopters are responsible for their own transportation.
