Katie

Hi there! My name is Katie, and I'm a young, female Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. I came to TIRR Rescue from Houston, where I was a street dog. Life on the streets taught me to be a bit of a wanderer, and I'm a bit of an escape artist, so I can't be left alone in a yard. Because of my past, I'm still learning to trust humans. I don't so much fear people as I do distrust them.

However, I'm making great progress! I'm slowly learning to trust my rescue people, and my friend Buccee has been a huge help in boosting my confidence around humans. I'm actually okay with kids – their energy and actions seem to make more sense to me than those of many adults.

Ideal Home

I need an exceptional owner who understands that I'm a semi-feral dog with conditioned mistrust of humans. Someone who can be patient and provide a safe, secure environment is key. I also need a home where I won't be left alone in a yard, as I am an excellent escape artist.

Ongoing Health

I am spayed, vaccinated, and have no known special needs beyond my behavioral considerations.

Training & Support

I am house-trained. My main area of support needed is building trust with my humans. Patience and consistent, positive interactions will be crucial for my continued progress.
