Thatcher

This handsome stripey boy is Thatcher, a 2-year-old Hound mix who weighs about 37 lbs. Thatcher landed in a shelter through no fault of his own and is now looking for his forever home. He's a young adult with plenty of energy, looking for a human to go on sniffy walks and adventures with. He'd love to make new pup pals and have opportunities to run and play. Most of all, Thatcher wants to belong, to be safe, loved, and have a place to call his own. In return, he promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship.

Ideal Home

Thatcher is looking for a home where he can have plenty of opportunities to run and play, and make new dog friends. We haven't seen him with cats or kids, but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters.

Ongoing Health

Thatcher tested positive for heartworms but is receiving treatment. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, and after treatment, dogs can resume full, active lives. He will need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment and must be kept on monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to discuss his treatment progress.

Training & Support

We cannot guarantee that Thatcher is housebroken, but he is working on crate training.

Transporation

Thatcher is currently at Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus. He needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to travel there.
