Gertrude Rose *LOCAL*

Meet Gertrude Rose, a delightful 5-month-old puppy weighing around 32 lbs! Gertrude, along with her siblings, is named after beautiful rose varieties, and she truly embodies the charm of her namesake. She's a sweet, friendly, and goofy pup who loves to play and brings gentleness to every interaction. Gertrude's smart and funny antics will keep you entertained and smiling, and she's eager to share her love with a forever family. She's friendly with everyone she meets, including children and other pets, approaching them with curiosity and playfulness. Gertrude has even attended events in the park and yoga classes!

Ongoing Health

Gertrude was born to a mother who tested positive for heartworm disease. While microfilariae (larval heartworms) can be passed from mother to puppy, they don't develop into adult heartworms in the puppy without a mosquito intermediary. Gertrude has been on regular heartworm preventative since being in our care. To ensure any remaining microfilaria are fully eliminated and to minimize the risk to other dogs, we recommend continuing monthly heartworm preventative (such as Advantage Multi or Parasedge) for at least the first three months after adoption. This product also protects against fleas. An additional oral tick preventative should be used.

Training & Support

As a young puppy, Gertrude has a lot to learn! She will need house training and crate training, and she'll need to learn to walk on a leash. We strongly recommend obedience classes to help her build confidence, learn commands, and socialize.
