Essex is as close to a Cockapoo as they come, according to his DNA! This approximately 5-year-old, 10-pound bundle of fun is a master of self-entertainment, happily playing with his toys for hours on end. He also loves to race around the yard and engage in playful antics with other dogs, though he would do best as an only dog or with one laid-back canine companion. Essex walks well on a leash and is mostly house-trained, though he does have a playful habit of marking other dogs' beds, which is part of his precocious and alpha personality. He needs an experienced owner who can guide him. When he was rescued, Essex was severely matted and had to be shaved down to his skin, but his beautiful coat is now growing back wonderfully!
Ideal Home
Essex would thrive in a home with an experienced owner who appreciates his confident personality. He would do best as an only dog or with a very laid-back companion. He is not suitable for homes with children under the age of 8.
Ongoing Health
Essex's coat is growing back beautifully after being shaved down due to matting. All dogs at our rescue are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations (including Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, and Canine Influenza), and on monthly preventatives for heartworms, fleas, ticks, and parasites.
Training & Support
Essex is a very smart and precocious dog who needs an experienced owner to help him understand boundaries. While he is mostly house-trained, he does occasionally mark other dogs' beds. He walks well on a leash.
