Meet joyful Jersey, a 5- to 6-year-old Staffy girl that a Good Samaritan rescued from the streets of Houston, TX in April 2024. A tail-wagging wiggle butt, she likes pets and cuddles and being the center of attention. A people-pleaser at heart, Jersey is eager to make her humans happy and she responds well to simple commands and redirection as needed. She is potty trained, leash trained, and crate trained. However, this well-mannered houseguest prefers being able to free roam in her house as much as possible, generally that involves finding a comfy spot to curl up on the couch and chill. She seems like she would be quite content as an only dog, and also gets along nicely with both smaller and similarly sized to slightly larger dogs that she has met with proper introductions. She has not been cat tested but has seemed curious and not necessarily aggressive when she encountered neighborhood cats. Jersey is a big fan of her antlers/bones, and she takes her hobby of collecting—and chewing—them quite seriously. In shared spaces, for these items specifically, it would be better for her to only be with another dog who either doesn’t care or is willing to share (or to have her temporarily crated so she can enjoy her bounty without interruptions). And did we mention her adorable ears???
