Meet Ernest!

Ernest is a gentle, five-and-a-half-year-old Shepherd/Husky mix with a soft cream coat and soulful eyes. He's about 75 pounds and is a devoted companion who loves to stay close, offer sweet kisses, and follow his favorite humans around. Ernest is a sensitive boy who thrives on connection and has a calm and friendly nature, having happily shared his home with children, a cat, and even chickens. He is generally social with people and welcoming towards strangers, but his sensitivity calls for understanding and patience.

Ideal Home

Ernest would do best in a calm environment where his caregiver is present most of the time, as he truly needs a gentle, consistent presence throughout the day and doesn't do well with long workdays away. He needs a home that can provide him with freedom of movement and avoid crates, kennels, or gates due to barrier frustration. While he's good with other dogs, he may need thoughtful introductions and continued guidance.

Ongoing Health

Ernest requires daily medication, including Keppra and Prozac, to manage epilepsy and support his anxiety. His seizures are generally well managed with consistency and care.

Training & Support

Ernest can become overstimulated and may vocalize or struggle to settle, especially with a lot of movement or change. He benefits from structure, positive reinforcement, and a steady presence. Frequent walks and hikes help him feel balanced and fulfilled.
