About Baloo
Baloo is an approximately 5-year-old, 33 lb Bull Terrier mix with a sweet, gentle, and loving soul. He has spent many years waiting for his perfect human to find him, and he's still hopeful! Baloo is a very affectionate boy who thrives on human companionship. While he may be a little shy when first meeting new people, he quickly warms up and loves to be showered with attention and cuddles. He enjoys playing and is happiest when surrounded by kind people.
Baloo is a social butterfly who gets along well with other dogs, children, men, and women. He's not aggressive and rarely reacts defensively, even when other dogs bother him. He's also a polite eater and waits his turn for food without issue. He is potty trained for the yard and can hold it while inside until he can go out again. Baloo knows how to use a crate but becomes distressed when confined, so a home where he doesn't need to be crated would be ideal. He is not yet leash-trained and gets nervous during car rides, preferring to travel in a carrier. With patient and gentle training, he has great potential to improve in both these areas, as he is smart and eager to please. Baloo is terrified of fireworks and may chew on safe toys to relieve stress or boredom. He can be vocal when he's hungry but is otherwise a joyful, playful, and funny companion.
Ideal Home
A home with a securely fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities would be perfect for Baloo. He needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue and a deep understanding of the needs of rescued animals, including their potential behaviors that require protection and education. Experience with dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer, is highly recommended. Baloo requires a high level of tolerance and patience, especially as he adjusts. He does not do well with confinement and would prefer a home where crating is not necessary.
Ongoing Health
Baloo has received a spay/neuter certificate, two DHPPI vaccines, a rabies vaccine, a Bordetella vaccine, deworming, and microchipping. He has also had a 4DX test, a negative heartworm test, and is on monthly preventive protection with Nexgard Spectra. He has a health certificate and a vaccine booklet.
Training & Support
Baloo is not yet leash-trained and gets nervous during car rides. He also chews on items when stressed or bored, particularly during fireworks. With patience and gentle training, he has great potential to improve. He can be vocal when hungry. Due to his past experiences, he will require an adjustment period, patience, and understanding to build trust and a strong bond.
