Meet Michelle! This 3-year-old, spayed female Staffordshire Terrier mix weighs about 48 pounds and is currently in a foster home in Houston, Texas. Michelle was rescued from euthanasia at a high-kill shelter and is now ready for her second chance at a loving forever home. She's an incredibly friendly, affectionate, and social dog who loves to play and nap with her canine foster siblings. While she can be a bit enthusiastic during play, she's not aggressive and adjusts her behavior well based on cues from other dogs. Michelle has a good amount of energy for outdoor play but settles nicely indoors for lounging and snoozing, making her a mellow house companion. She has a history of positive interactions with children ages 8 and up, but due to her tendency to jump when excited, a home with children 12+ or dog-savvy younger teens would be ideal.
Ideal Home
Michelle would thrive in a home with another friendly dog and a family that can offer her love, structure, and playtime. Due to her enthusiastic jumping, a home with children 12+ or dog-savvy younger teens is recommended. She is an escape artist and can scale fences, so a secure yard or consistent leash walks are a must. She can do well in an apartment or urban setting with consistent exercise and enrichment.
Ongoing Health
Michelle is a healthy, spayed female.
Training & Support
Michelle is fully housebroken and crate trained, and often chooses to rest in her crate during the day. She is very food motivated and learns quickly, but can be a bit sneaky around food, so she is fed separately. She responds well to redirection. While she walks fairly well on a leash, she tends to pull, and continued leash training and structure will help her improve. She enjoys chewing, especially on things she finds outside, so supervision and crate time when unsupervised are important.
