Delilah is a total sweetheart who's been through so much. She was found abandoned and pregnant in Turnbull Canyon, CA. Since then, she's raised six puppies and moved between four foster homes and boarding facilities. While we can only guess at her past experiences, we know she's very fearful of men. In public, she'll keep her distance, but in a home environment, her fear is more pronounced. Despite this, she's incredibly sweet and loving towards all the females and children she meets. She has made progress with a trainer and has learned that men with long hair are less frightening. Delilah knows how to sit, is crate-trained, and is currently learning the "place" and "leave it" commands. She's reliable with her potty schedule, always asking to go out, even when she's had an upset stomach. Her favorite things are chew toys and Nylabones. She enjoys just hanging out, as long as it's with other females. She can be okay with men in certain situations, but too much commotion or sudden movements can overwhelm her. Delilah has been a fantastic hiking companion and enjoys park days, though squirrels do get her excited. She's currently living with a cat but can become a bit too energetic when the cat wants to play. She's initially wary of new dogs but warms up well with slow introductions and enjoys playing with other social dogs. Her zoomies in a large yard are a sight to behold, resembling Scooby-Doo's antics! Delilah is searching for her forever home and hopes it's with you!
Ideal Home
Delilah would thrive in a home with a large yard where she can express her playful energy. She needs a calm environment where she feels safe, and a household with female adults and children would be ideal. While she can be okay with men in specific circumstances, her comfort and trust will need to be earned gradually.
Ongoing Health
No specific health concerns are mentioned in her listing.
