Meet Spade!
Spade is a spirited two-and-a-half-year-old Boxer/American Pitbull Terrier mix with a sleek black coat and striking white accents. At around 55 pounds, he’s a medium-sized charmer who is both a playful goofball and an affectionate constant companion. He loves to be close to his favorite people, whether he's soaking up sunshine, roughhousing, or snuggling under a blanket. One of his most endearing quirks is his nightly blanket routine, where he wiggles and burrows until he creates the perfect cozy nest. He also loves rump scratches and will respond with an adorable full-body dance! Spade enjoys crinkle toys, interactive toys, car rides, swimming, and plenty of outdoor enrichment in a fully fenced yard.
Ideal Home
Spade needs a loving, pet-free home where he can be the only animal. He prefers not to be disturbed while eating and may give a brief growl if startled awake from a deep sleep to communicate that he needs space. He does best with calm, respectful teenagers or young adults who understand canine boundaries.
Ongoing Health
Spade receives daily Fluoxetine to help manage anxiety. He is house-trained, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Spade knows "sit" and "paw." He does well when left alone for reasonable periods and follows a simple routine of twice-daily meals, exercise, and relaxation. Loud noises, storms, and strangers approaching the house can make him uneasy. He has a history of resource guarding behaviors around food, toys, and other high-value items that led to serious altercations with another dog, therefore he is not compatible with other dogs or cats. With people, Spade is incredibly affectionate and has no history of biting.

Transportation
Spade is currently in Tinton Falls, NJ, and will remain with his current family until a suitable new home is found for him.
