Essex is a charming boy, approximately 5 years old and weighing in at a petite 10 lbs. He's as close to a Cockapoo as you can get, according to his DNA! Essex is a bundle of playful energy, capable of amusing himself for hours with his toys and loves to race around the yard. He also enjoys a good romp with other dogs, though he can sometimes be a bit too enthusiastic with his playful barking, so he would do best as an only dog or with a very laid-back canine companion. This smart pup walks well on a leash and is pretty well house-trained, though he does have a playful habit of occasionally marking the other dogs' beds. He's a very precocious and alpha little dog who would thrive with an experienced owner. When he first arrived, his coat was quite matted, and he had to be shaved down, but it's now growing back beautifully!
Ideal Home
Essex would be a great companion for someone older. He would do best as an only dog or with one other laid-back companion. He is not able to live with children under the age of 8.
Ongoing Health
Essex's coat was very matted when rescued and was shaved down to the skin. His coat is now filling out nicely. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated (Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Canine Influenza), and on monthly preventatives for heartworms, fleas/ticks, and parasites.
Training & Support
Essex is pretty well house-trained but does occasionally mark other dogs' beds. He is described as a precocious and alpha little dog that needs an experienced owner.
