About Comet

Comet is a 3-year-old, 56-pound, neutered male hound/retriever mix with a heart of gold! He's a resilient and adaptable pup who was rescued from the streets and saved from the county shelter in San Antonio. Comet, also known as Buddy, is now thriving in a foster home and is ready to find his forever family. He has a good energy level, loves to run zoomies, and has a balanced playstyle. He's also a cuddle bug who just wants to be by your side!

Ideal Home

Comet would be happiest in a home with another dog to be his sibling and snuggle buddy. He has done well with indoor cats and children, but due to a slight herding instinct, we recommend a home with kids aged 10 and older, or those who can understand and respect animal behavior cues.

Ongoing Health

Comet is a healthy boy!

Training & Support

Comet is fully house, crate, and leash trained. He sleeps through the night in his kennel without a fuss and doesn't pull on the leash. He's had no accidents in the house and will let you know when he needs to go out. While he generally doesn't show signs of separation anxiety, he is crated when unsupervised due to his tendency to taste-test new things. Comet can be a bit wary of men, but with patience and consistency, he warms up beautifully – he adores his foster dad! He is eager to please, making him easy to train, and he responds well to gentle guidance.
