Rye is a 2-year-old, 56 lb bundle of sunshine and happiness! He's the color of a perfectly cooked corndog and has a smile that could brighten any day. Rye is a goofy boy who loves to snuggle, often switching between a full body lean and a two-paw hug that resembles a marriage proposal. He's a lover boy, a goofball, and your next adventure buddy! Rye greets everyone like an old friend and is always eager to make new ones. He can get a little jumpy when excited, but it's all from eagerness for love. He's learning that sitting gets more praise, so we have no doubt he'll polish up his manners quickly. His foster describes him as sweet, affectionate, and people-oriented, happiest when he's close to you.
Ideal Home
Rye would thrive in a home that enjoys playtime, walks, and some structure. He could do well in an apartment with plenty of exercise and enrichment, but a house with a yard would be ideal.
Ongoing Health
Rye is estimated to be 2 years old and weighs 56 lbs, with a few more pounds to gain. He is up-to-date on all vetting, including vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick prevention, and heartworm preventative. He has also been spayed and microchipped.
Training & Support
Rye can be a bit bouncy when excited and needs some polishing on his leash skills as he can be a bit all over the place on walks. However, he listens well to corrections and loves treats, making him a great candidate for training success. He is good with other dogs, especially calm, self-assured females. Rye has also shown to be cat-tolerant, and is gentle and affectionate with children, though he will need guidance to learn to contain his excitement around smaller children.

Rye is located in Texas. We facilitate adoptions nationwide using our rescue-run USDA-certified transport system. Our transport includes drop-off locations in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI, and Canada. You will have the opportunity to track their journey in real time and receive photo updates. For Canadian adopters, pick-up is in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
