Meet Cooper!
Cooper is a handsome, approximately 1-year-old Shepherd mix who weighs around 40 lbs. He might fill out a little more, but he's not expected to exceed 50 lbs. While his breed isn't confirmed, he has unique markings that suggest Heeler or Pointer in his lineage. Cooper was found as a stray in Texas and has been patiently waiting in a shelter for nearly two months for his forever home. Despite his unknown past, he's won over the hearts of shelter staff and volunteers with his happy, playful, and incredibly affectionate nature. He walks beautifully on a leash and has a heart as big as his frame!
Ideal Home
Cooper would thrive in a home that can provide plenty of physical exercise and mental enrichment. A securely fenced yard would be ideal for him to run and play. He would likely enjoy having a playful canine companion, though it's not a requirement. Due to his youthful enthusiasm and energy, a house setting is preferred over apartment living, but we are open to adopters in apartments/condos without fences. He has had limited exposure to children, so a home with respectful, dog-savvy kids who understand how to interact appropriately with a dog of his size and energy level would be best. A cat-free home is recommended unless adopters have experience with slow, proper introductions to feline friends.
Ongoing Health
Cooper is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, heartworm negative, and maintained on monthly preventatives.
Training & Support
Cooper is still learning basic manners, house training, and polite greetings, which is typical for a young dog. His new family should be prepared to offer patience and consistency to help him succeed. With structure, guidance, and love, Cooper has the potential to become a wonderful lifelong companion.
