Konrad is a handsome, one-year-old, purebred Border Collie with a smooth coat and a heart full of love to give! He's family-friendly, dog-friendly, easy-going, and playful, and he's patiently waiting for his chance to find a forever home. Konrad was born on a farm, but sadly, he was given away and then abandoned. Despite his bumpy start, he has a wonderfully sweet and trusting personality and loves everyone he meets, including other dogs. He's currently living with three canine companions who are showing him what it's like to be a cherished part of a family, and he especially enjoys playing with his Border Collie buddies!
Konrad is quickly learning the joys of being a dog, a companion, and a family member. He's discovering the fun of playing fetch and loves interacting with people. His playful, fun-loving personality shines through, and he has an adorable quirk: he likes to gently nibble when you're preparing his meals or when you first wake up – a sweet, if slightly goofy, way of saying he's happy to see you! He's also highly intelligent and eager to learn, making great progress with crate and house training. Konrad walks nicely on a leash and rides well in the car. He hasn't shown any sensitivity to loud noises or thunderstorms. He responds best to gentle verbal corrections and calm leadership.
Ideal Home
Konrad needs an active lifestyle and a home with a large, securely fenced yard (at least 5-6 feet high) where he can safely explore. Because of his strong herding instincts and drive to chase small animals, he is not a good match for a home with small pets like rabbits or gerbils, and he is not suitable for a home with cats.
Ongoing Health
Konrad is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, and microchipped. He has tested negative for heartworm and is on monthly preventatives and flea medication.
Training & Support
Konrad is intelligent and eager to learn, showing steady progress in his crate and house training. He walks well on a leash and rides calmly in the car. He responds best to sensitive verbal corrections and calm leadership. While he loves to chase small animals, this is a common trait for Border Collies due to their herding instincts.
