Tommy is a sweet, aproximadamente 10-month-old male Terrier mix who currently weighs about 27 lbs and is expected to reach around 37 lbs. Born on April 10, 2024, Tommy was rescued and is being fostered in Matamoros, Mexico. He is a docile, affectionate, playful, friendly, and loving boy who is learning to trust people. While he can be a little shy and nervous around new people, he is very active and loves to run and play with his dog friends. Tommy was born at the shelter after his pregnant mother was rescued.
Ideal Home
Tommy would thrive in a home with families who have an open conscience about the needs of rescued street animals and who understand their need for protection and education. An experienced background in dog behavior and training is preferred, along with high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies. It's important for potential adopters to realize that rescued dogs may have been traumatized and will need an adjustment period. Patience and understanding are a must. Tommy is not house-trained.
Ongoing Health
Tommy has undergone a comprehensive health protocol including a spay/neuter certificate, two DHPPI vaccines, a rabies vaccine, a Bordetella vaccine, deworming, and microchipping. He has also tested negative for heartworm and received a 4DX test and certificate. He is on monthly preventive medication (Nexgard Spectra) for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. A health certificate and vaccination booklet are available.
Training & Support
Tommy is not house-trained and will require ongoing patience and consistent training in his new home. It's important to understand that all rescued dogs may need time to decompress and adjust.

Transportation
Tommy is currently being fostered in Matamoros, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our next cross-country trip. A transport fee of $400.00 will be paid by the adopter prior to departure, covering delivery to the adopter's home address.
