Flits is a handsome, smart, and perfectly medium-sized 5-year-old boy who weighs about 53.5 lbs. He's quickly becoming a favorite here at the shelter, with many volunteers who love to walk him and work on his training. Flits was found by a member of the public who kept him for about a week. They reported he was a sweet dog who loved everyone and everything, and even got along with other dogs in their home. He's a good companion and a great walking buddy! In the yard, Flits can sometimes be found prancing around like a little pony, but he's always ready for attention and treats once you have his focus. He knows "sit" and is learning "down," and his treat motivation should make training a breeze.
Ideal Home
Flits would do best as the only dog in the home. He would like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit. No dog parks or other uncontrolled environments are recommended.
Ongoing Health
Flits is currently on Prozac. Please consult with your veterinarian before making any changes to his medication, as abrupt cessation can cause negative effects.
Training & Support
Flits is treat-motivated, knows "sit," and is learning "down." It is recommended to condition Flits to a comfortable basket muzzle before introductions to other dogs. Slow, structured introductions in neutral territory are a must, always monitoring body language and ending on a positive note.
