Roamer

Roamer is a sweet boy who was found as a stray and arrived at the shelter in rough shape. He was underweight, matted, and had a serious ear infection. After receiving treatment, he spent 1.5 months at the shelter without any interest before coming to our rescue. Roamer can be a little nervous when he first meets new people, but he warms up quickly. He tends to be more trusting of women than men. He gets along well with other dogs, provided they don't initiate conflict. If challenged, Roamer will defend himself. A professional behaviorist evaluated him and had great things to say, noting he did well in doggy daycare with over 40 other dogs. Roamer knows a few commands, including "sit," "paw," and "smile." He is potty trained and knows how to use a dog door.

Ideal Home

Roamer would thrive in a home with adults who understand how to respect his space. He is not a good fit for homes with small children. He would love a retirement home with a yard where he can relax and lounge.

Ongoing Health

Roamer has arthritis, so pain medication and joint supplements are essential for his well-being.

Training & Support

Roamer is a friendly dog despite his past. He would benefit from a patient owner who can offer him the mental stimulation and regular walks he enjoys.

Transporation

Roamer is currently located in our rescue. We can arrange transport to approved adopters within a 3-hour radius of our rescue location.
