Flora is a delightful 3-year-old, 46-pound Carolina Dog mix looking for her forever family! Affectionately known by many names, including Flora, Flory, Lory, and Sweetpea, she's a playful and energetic girl who absolutely loves to wrestle and be chased. Flora's foster parents describe her as a total love bug who enjoys snuggling and has a lot of love to give. She's fully housebroken and does well when left unsupervised outside of a crate. Flora also enjoys car rides, sunbathing, and birdwatching. She's a smart pup who loves learning new tricks and is very submissive and affectionate. While she's a work in progress, Flora promises years of love and companionship!
Ideal Home
Flora would thrive in a moderately active home where her owner is often around and enjoys engaging in playtime, like games of fetch. She would do best in a home with no other pets or with a well-balanced dog of similar age, size, and energy level. Due to her nervousness around new people and quick movements, an adult-only household would be ideal at this time. She may prefer to be the only pet in the home.
Ongoing Health
Flora is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. She experiences anxiety during thunderstorms and will seek shelter when they occur.
Training & Support
Flora can be nervous around new people and barks at them, especially when they move quickly. She has shown some leash reactivity, including raised hair, whimpering, and barking, though her foster parents have been working on this with positive reinforcement. She pulls on the leash, particularly in busy environments, and benefits from calm surroundings. Consistent training will be beneficial to help her build confidence around new dogs and stimuli. While she's shown anxiety in a crate at home, she has no issues when boarded and crated. She is fed separately from other dogs and needs gentle reminders to take treats softly.

Transporation
Flora is currently in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS. She can be transported out of state once an adopter is approved. Transports run every few weeks and she will be placed on the next available transport after approval.
