Sofia is a sweet and loving lady, approximately 10 years old and weighing around 13 lbs. She came to us needing a good home and is now ready to find her forever family. Sofia is a friendly, happy girl with a wonderful personality and a tail that never stops wagging. She's very affectionate and enjoys attention, doing great during baths and showing everyone her calm and cooperative nature. She may give a little bark when she wants attention, letting you know she's there! Sofia rides well in the car, making her a great companion for adventures. If you're looking for a cheerful, loving dog with a delightful spirit, Sofia might be the one for you!
Ideal Home
Sofia would do well with a dog that can coexist with her, and she completely ignored a cat during a visit, so introductions to resident felines would need to be managed. She enjoyed the company of gentle 5- and 8-year-olds, so a home with children of those ages or older would be suitable. However, it's best to avoid toddlers who might accidentally fall on her.
Ongoing Health
Sofia is current on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. She is blind in her right eye but sees well with her left. She has moderate tartar on her teeth, and her adoptive family should consult with their vet about a dental cleaning in the future. Sofia is on an inexpensive over-the-counter Cosequin joint supplement, which is beneficial for senior dogs. Due to her Dachshund build, she is naturally prone to back injuries, so it's important to prevent her from jumping on and off furniture to ensure her safety and health.
Training & Support
Sofia is enrolled in our Mostly Mutts University training program and has already mastered the "come" command. We encourage continuing her training with the free lifetime training classes offered to all adopted dogs. She is doing well in her current living situation and has shown good potty manners on a shelter schedule, with only a few accidents.
