Meet Ernie! Ernie is an 8-year-old, 63lb neutered male Pittie/Cattle Dog mix with a heart of gold. He was found wandering a busy street and, despite his microchip, his previous owner did not want him back. Ernie was clearly loved once, as he's always happy to meet new people and animals. He's a charming and adaptable boy who is ready to find his forever family.
Ideal Home
Ernie would thrive in any home environment. He is gentle and could enjoy a home with children, provided they understand he is a larger dog. He is also good with other dogs, regardless of size, and seems to have a curious but not aggressive interest in cats, so he may be fine with feline friends who don't mind him saying hello. He's a social dog who loves to be near his people, making him a great companion for anyone, from an active individual to a laid-back couple, or even a first-time dog owner.
Ongoing Health
Ernie is currently HW- and has no known ongoing health conditions.
Training & Support
Ernie is house-trained and walks well on a leash. He is not a fan of crates and will try to escape them, but he is not destructive when left unsupervised. If crated while you are home, he may whine or howl for a short period, but can be comforted with a treat or verbal reassurance. He is a social dog who enjoys being part of the family's activities.
