Lambert is a 2-year-old, 80-pound male Pit mix with a heart as big as his body! He's a total goofball who absolutely adores being around his people. With his wonderfully wrinkled face, striking black eyeliner, and an incredibly sweet disposition, Lambert is guaranteed to steal your heart. He's a master of the lean-in cuddle and will melt into your touch when you give him scratches, especially behind his ears. He's also a polite boy, letting you know when he's had enough affection.
Lambert seems to be unaware of his own size and acts like a much smaller dog, often wanting to be right on top of you on the couch. Think of him as a large, cuddly, 80-pound weighted blanket who just wants to be close! Because he can be a bit of a bulldozer when he gets excited, we recommend a home with older children who can handle his enthusiastic greetings.
When he's not busy investigating interesting backyard sights and sounds, Lambert loves his squeaky toys and wrestling with his foster sister. He enjoys the company of other dogs and would thrive in a home with another active, younger dog of a similar size. Lambert is still a young pup and needs a good amount of exercise. While leash walking is a work in progress, he gets a lot of his energy out by playing fetch and wrestling with his canine pals. It's clear he didn't have much experience with walks in his past, so his leash manners are still developing.
Lambert is incredibly smart and highly motivated by treats, which makes him a quick learner! He already knows sit, down, paw, come, stay, drop it, and outside. Just remember that his attention span follows the hierarchy of treats > squirrels > commands. He's a patient boy, too, waiting politely for his meals and sitting before his food bowl is placed down. Lambert is also very curious and likes to be in the know about everything happening around him, from dinner preparations to following you from room to room.
Ideal Home
Lambert would do best in a home where he isn't left alone for extended periods. He can become restless and worried when separated from his favorite humans. An ideal family would be retired, work from home, or generally be home often.
Ongoing Health
Lambert is a healthy boy!
Training & Support
Lambert is crate trained and potty trained. He knows several commands but is still working on leash manners. His high treat motivation makes him an excellent candidate for continued training.
