Branson

Meet Branson, a resilient and loving German Shepherd mix with a long, gorgeous coat. He's approximately 8 years old and weighs around 100 pounds. Branson is an affectionate and considerate dog who can be slow to warm up, but once he trusts you, his loyalty is unmatched. He arrived with excellent house manners and knew many commands, suggesting he was once a beloved pet who sadly ended up abandoned.

Branson's past experiences have left him with some insecurities, which can manifest as nervousness or territorial behavior when meeting new people in unfamiliar settings. However, he adores kitties and gets along wonderfully with them! He's not a fan of high-energy dogs and would prefer to be the only canine companion in the home. He might do well with smaller, calmer, or older dogs, but any introductions to new doggy friends should be slow and supervised, with walks being a great way to facilitate this.

Parks are his absolute favorite place, and he loves walks, which are a fantastic way to build confidence and allow for gentle introductions to new people and dogs. Branson is eager to please and already knows commands like "sit" and "shake." He enjoys being near his people, preferring to rest at your feet or by your side, but he's also respectful of personal space. Knowing you're in the room is enough for him. He transitions into a crate with ease and is also well-behaved when left out overnight, showing his adaptability.

Ideal Home

Branson needs a home with a required privacy fence yard. He would thrive in a calm environment where he can build trust at his own pace. He would do best as the only dog in the home, though introductions to calm, older, or smaller dogs may be possible with careful management.

Ongoing Health

Branson is a healthy boy with no known ongoing health conditions. His adoption fee includes his spay/neuter, vaccinations, a wellness exam, heartworm test, and microchip.

Training & Support

Patience and understanding are key with Branson. While he may initially be wary of new people, consistent positive reinforcement will help him feel secure and build his confidence. Slow introductions to new people and dogs are crucial for his success.

• Out-of-state adoptions are possible with vet references and a video home check.
• Adopters are responsible for transportation to and from the shelter, and for returning the dog if the adoption does not work out.
