Dahlia is a delightful 10-month-old "itty bitty labbie pittie" who is as sweet and beautiful as her namesake flower. Weighing in at around 35 pounds, she's expected to stay between 40-45 pounds. Dahlia is a morning pup, eager to start her day with a potty break and some energetic zoomies, followed by a brisk walk where her leash skills are nearly perfect, unless a squirrel catches her eye! She absolutely loves exploring trails and parks, making friends with everyone she meets, both human and canine. While initially shy with new people, she warms up quickly and is sure to become your loving shadow. Dahlia is also an adventurous spirit who enjoys a good swim in creeks or rivers, making her an ideal companion for summer camping trips.
During the workday, Dahlia is a cozy and content companion, snoozing at her foster mom's side and enjoying play breaks with the four other dogs in the home. She gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes, though smaller dogs should be confident in setting boundaries for play. Her favorite pastimes include chasing pine cones and carrying around big sticks.
Ideal Home
Dahlia would thrive in a home that can provide plenty of exercise and companionship. She would be happiest with another playful dog or regular visits to doggy daycare, as she truly adores the company of other canines. While she can adapt to apartment living if her exercise needs are met, her tendency to vocalize in her crate when left alone might be a consideration for homes with shared walls. She has not been tested with cats or children, but we believe she would do well with respectful children aged 8 and up.
Ongoing Health
Dahlia is generally healthy and has no known ongoing health conditions.
Training & Support
Dahlia is crate and house-trained. She may cry in her crate initially when left alone, but she does settle eventually. This behavior will need to be re-established in her new home. She is expected to need continued reinforcement of routines, though she eventually settles beautifully in her crate at night and would love to share a bed with her humans. Dahlia is a fantastic copilot in the car and enjoys rides. She has a healthy appetite and eats her meals at a moderate pace.
