Meet Blu!
Blu is a vibrant, approximately two-and-a-half-year-old Boxer/American Pitbull Terrier mix with a big heart and a beautiful brown brindle coat with white accents. She's a large pup at 65 pounds with a personality to match! Blu is affectionate, incredibly smart, and motivated to please. She loves playing fetch with her favorite frisbee, epic tug-o-war matches, chewing on yak cheese, and zooming around the yard. She also enjoys supervised shredding of soft toys and cardboard strips, which has been a great way to channel her natural chewing instincts, and she hasn't chewed on anything off-limits in months. Blu's journey began when she followed a kind soul home from the grocery store. She has since been spayed, vaccinated, and has lived with senior dogs and cats, showing gentle patience and a desire to belong. She's ready for a family to call her own and a space to stretch her legs.
Ideal Home
Blu would thrive in an active home with plenty of playtime and enrichment activities to keep her mind engaged. A fenced yard is a big plus, as is a family who enjoys an active lifestyle and has time to include her in their daily routine.
Ongoing Health
Blu is spayed and vaccinated.
Training & Support
Blu knows an impressive list of commands including sit, wait, down, up, leave it, come, and more! She responds well to structure and loves training with treats and praise. While she's still working through sensitivity to passing cars and men in baseball caps, she's made steady progress with positive reinforcement. Blu is energetic and can get excitable, which sometimes leads to jumping and cobbing, though her caregivers have worked to help her manage these behaviors. She can also be destructive when under-stimulated, making regular mental and physical enrichment essential. She is crate-trained and house-trained and has been comfortable being left alone for short periods.
