Maxx (NO MEN)

Maxx is an almost 3-year-old longhaired dachshund who came to us as a breeder release. He is very shut down, likely due to his previous living situation. He is not yet potty trained, which is common for studs kept in crates for extended periods. Maxx has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He is still working through his fear of men, even with patient and understanding male figures. Our vet has performed lab work and a heartworm test, and he has been prescribed Prozac to help with his anxiety. While he prefers the company of females, he is still a bit reserved and doesn't actively seek out affection or petting from women, though he will accept food and enjoy hand-feeding around meal times. He does enjoy his walks and gets along with other dogs, though he's not always playful with them. Maxx will be with us for some time as we focus on his socialization.

Ideal Home

Maxx would thrive in a quiet home with a secure, fenced yard. He would do best with gentle, well-adjusted small or medium-sized dogs for company. He must be in a home with no men or children. Owners must be patient and never yell or raise their voices.

Ongoing Health

Maxx has been prescribed Prozac to help manage his anxiety.

Training & Support

Maxx is not potty trained and will need consistent reinforcement. He is still warming up to people and will require a patient and structured environment to build trust. Progress may take up to a year, and we are working on socialization here before he goes to his forever home.
