Grant is a special dog with unique needs and a lot of potential. He has received both basic and professional training to help him manage fear-based reactions and other behaviors. With the right person—someone patient, consistent, and attentive—Grant can continue building confidence and become more comfortable around other dogs over time. Grant forms strong bonds with his people and truly enjoys learning. He already knows several commands, including sit, down, wait, place, drop, give, and “get your toy.” He thrives on mental stimulation and especially loves nose work, such as searching for treats hidden around the yard in boxes or other props. Grant has a fun and playful personality. He’s a bit of a goofball and absolutely loves his toys—so much so that he often likes to carry them around in his mouth. Using toys as rewards during training works especially well for him. Another bonus: Grant handles baths and nail trims very well.
Ideal Home
Grant would do best in a home without young children, cats, or small animals due to his high prey drive and reactivity around other dogs. He needs a confident, experienced handler who can provide calm leadership and clear guidance and structure.
Ongoing Health
Grant developed tendonitis in his leg due to an attack he experienced before his rescue. His condition may cause occasional discomfort, but with proper care and attention, he can still live a normal, happy, and fulfilling life.
Training & Support
Grant has received basic and professional training for fear-based reactions and other behaviors. He benefits from mental stimulation and positive reinforcement, especially using toys as rewards. Grant may react to other dogs when his person is nearby and interacting with them, so his adopter will need to be mindful of this when managing his environment.
