Meet Toby, a 6-month-old, 26-pound Carolina Corgi mix with a heart as big as his adorable ears. Toby's journey began with heartbreak when he was abandoned at a high-kill shelter with his mom. While his mom was adopted, Toby was left scared and alone. Thankfully, a loving foster stepped in to give him the chance he deserved.
Initially terrified of the outside world, Toby found comfort and confidence by watching his foster sisters explore. Now, he happily goes on leash, enjoys playing with his foster siblings, and loves a good sunbath. Toby is shy with new people and needs time to adjust to new environments, but once he feels safe, he blossoms into a loyal, calm, and gentle companion who doesn't resource guard and has wonderful manners around other animals. He loves to hang out by bookshelves, under desks, or close to his foster sisters.
Toby currently lives with six dogs and one cat and gets along beautifully with all of them. He thrives in the company of other pets and looks to them for reassurance, so a happy, confident, playful dog in the home is required. Toby trusts dogs more than humans, and having a canine role model helps him continue building confidence and learning that the world is a safe place. He is a smart, quick learner and is making progress every day. While he is fine around children, we feel Toby would do best in a quieter home without young kids. A calm environment will help him relax and continue gaining confidence. For the family willing to give him patience, kindness, and time, Toby will reward you with unwavering loyalty and a truly special bond.
Ideal Home
Toby would thrive in a quiet home with a happy, confident, playful dog to be his role model. A home without young children is preferred. A fully fenced yard is a requirement for adoption.
Ongoing Health
Toby is fully vaccinated with 3 rounds of shots, neutered, and heartworm negative. He is kept on heartworm and flea preventatives.
Training & Support
Toby is currently puppy pad trained and has done an excellent job learning where to potty indoors. He is a quick learner and is expected to transition to outdoor potty training easily once he becomes more comfortable with outdoor noises and new environments. He closely watches the other dogs and is eager to follow their lead.
