Ideal Home
Pluto would do best in a home with a fenced yard, especially if there are children. Homes with intact dogs will not be approved for adoption unless the dog is a working member of a law enforcement or search and rescue/recovery team, is actively being shown and registered under the AKC, or a veterinarian has determined sterilization would harm the dog. We do not adopt giant breed dogs to renters or to homes with children under 6 years of age. If you are renting and applying for a dog that is not a giant breed, permission from your landlord or property owner is required. Applications will be denied if anyone in the household has a record of drug/alcohol abuse, theft, or violence. Any pets currently in the home must have a history of appropriate veterinary care.
Ongoing Health
Pluto is a young puppy, and if adopted as such, he will need to be sterilized between 12-18 months of age, at the owner's expense. Proof of sterilization must be provided to Wags.
Training & Support
Pluto is a puppy and will require consistent training and socialization to ensure he grows into a well-behaved adult. We believe in Force Free Training Methods and do not approve of methods or devices using pain or force to control a dog or deter undesirable behavior. For puppies under 6 months, an adult should not be away from home for more than one hour per day per month of the puppy's age. Homes with highly varnished steps or floors must have carpeting, securely fixed stair treads, non-skid surfaces, or non-slip area rugs where the animal walks or rests frequently.
