Rusty is a 3-year, 9-month-old gentleman who is ready to find his forever home! He's a pretty low-maintenance, quiet, and respectful pup who asks for very little but offers a lot of affection in return. Rusty is not much of an athlete, but he definitely has the spirit of one. He is absolutely thrilled to run around and play if the energy in the room catches him, but he's just as quick to decide his workout is done and head back to the couch. He lives for a good cuddle and scratch session. He is very polite and gentle, no jumping or other rude behaviors. Long walks aren't his thing, as short to medium length, easy strolls are much more his speed. Rusty is exceptionally quiet, he doesn't bark at passing distractions and rests calmly in his crate without whining. His favorite place to be is right next to his person. He is generally pretty good on a leash, though he has occasional moments of stubbornness where he will just stand still if he doesn't feel like going any further or isn't ready to move on yet. Rusty is a gentle soul who takes treats with absolute care. Because he is sensitive, he responds best to a soft, calm environment and positive reassurance rather than stern voices. Once he knows he is safe with you, he is highly motivated by treats, which makes building a bond and training easy. Rusty is just an all-around good, steady dog. He is relatively low-maintenance, doesn't require an intense exercise regimen, and is looking for a peaceful home where he can settle in and be loved.
Ideal Home
Rusty would do best in a calm, quiet home where he can relax and receive plenty of affection. He loves lounging on the couch and being close to his people. While he enjoys play, he's not suited for long, strenuous walks. He's also not a fan of water, so rainy days or baths might be a challenge.
Ongoing Health

Training & Support
Rusty knows the "sit" command and is generally good with housebreaking, though occasional accidents may occur in his kennel or around the house. He is food-motivated, which can be a great asset for training. He responds best to positive reinforcement and a gentle approach.
