Meet Belle! Belle is a sweet 5-year-old beagle, weighing in at approximately 17.4 pounds. She's a petite girl who is finally getting the chance to discover a life beyond the confines of a hunting kennel and is looking for a patient and compassionate family.
Belle, along with her best friend Blue, spent years with very limited human interaction, leaving her with little opportunity to learn what it means to be a cherished family companion. As a result, Belle is still learning to trust people and navigate the world around her. Fortunately, she is now in a foster home where she and Blue are beginning a brand-new chapter. While she can be shy and uncertain in new situations, she has the comfort of Blue by her side. They shared a kennel in their previous home and have formed a strong bond, helping each other feel secure. Because of this special connection, Belle and Blue must be adopted together.
Ideal Home
Belle and Blue will benefit from a patient family that understands trust takes time. They may not immediately understand things many dogs take for granted, such as living in a home, walking on a leash, or receiving affection. A securely fenced yard is required. They would also benefit from a calm, understanding home environment. A confident resident dog could be a wonderful role model. A home with older children, ideally age 12 and up, would likely be the best fit.
Ongoing Health
Belle is currently being treated for Lyme disease and Ehrlichia. She will be microchipped, vaccinated, fecal tested, and started on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention before traveling.
Training & Support
Belle may need guidance as she learns about living in a home, leash walking, and receiving affection. Every day in foster care gives her new opportunities to learn and build confidence.
