Tony is a 4-year-old, 62-pound Spaniel/Great Pyrenees mix who is a master of the shy retreat. He’s a timid soul who finds the outside world a bit overwhelming, but his curiosity often wins out, prompting him to cautiously explore before returning to the safety of his favorite people. Tony was a COVID puppy who missed out on early socialization, making him a bit unsure around new people, dogs, and cats. He's making progress, however, and with a calm and mellow canine companion, he might just find a friend. High-energy pups, however, might be a bit too much for him. Cats tend to startle him, causing him to quickly retreat rather than engage. Tony dreams of a quiet home with a securely fenced yard, where he can feel safe to explore and learn that the world isn't so scary. He'd thrive in a household with teenagers or adults who understand his need for gentle encouragement. His ultimate happy place involves snuggling on the sofa with his people, enjoying pets and maybe a tasty snack. With patience and kindness, Tony will blossom into a loyal and gentle companion, occasionally showing his bravery with a brave peek from behind your legs.
