Fern is a 2-and-a-half-year-old, 50-pound American Pit Bull mix with a huge heart, endless affection, and a playful, energetic spirit. She is very loved, but her foster family wants to find her an environment that's more suited to her needs. Fern can be a little shy at first and takes time to feel comfortable around new people and animals, but once she trusts you, she is incredibly affectionate, loyal, and full of personality. She loves toys, belly rubs, zoomies, and showing off how smart she is. Fern is very food motivated, pattern-driven, and easily trainable. She knows "sit," "lay down," "leave it," "give paw," and is crate trained with the cue "in the box." Most of the time, "lay down" — or a downward closed-hand signal — turns into her asking for belly rubs. She rides wonderfully in the car and will sit in the front or back seat like a little human passenger. She can also learn yard boundaries once properly trained. Fern is fully potty trained and crate trained.
Ideal Home
Fern would thrive in a home where she can be the main focus. She is not recommended with cats or smaller dogs and would likely do best as a solo pet or with a larger, more dominant dog.
Ongoing Health
Fern is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccines.
Training & Support
Fern is energetic and loves to zoom, so she would do best with someone who can give her structure, exercise, and continued training. She does pull on leash, so a harness is recommended for walks.
