Meet Sampson, a 3-year-old Norwegian Elkhound mix who weighs about 58lbs. Sampson, also known as Sam or Sammy, is a charming and quirky dog with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He has a unique look with short, sturdy legs and a tightly curled tail. Sampson's journey to find his forever home has been a tough one; he arrived as a tiny, emaciated puppy but has since transformed into a strong, happy, and thriving dog. Despite his past, Sampson is full of life and love. He's a natural comedian, known for his funny habit of standing on his hind legs and waving his paws when he wants something, and he's also a devoted cuddle bug who loves to be close to his people, earning him the nickname "Velcro dog." He enjoys being part of all your daily activities, whether it's cleaning, organizing, or just relaxing. Sampson forms deep bonds and thrives on connection, making him a loyal and devoted companion.
Ideal Home
Sampson enjoys playing fetch and exploring, and with a moderate energy level, he would do best with an active person or couple who will include him in their routine and provide him with outlets for both physical and mental stimulation. A secure, fenced yard is essential for him to safely burn off energy and enjoy playtime. While Sampson is friendly and social, he can be overwhelmed by constant noise and change, so he truly shines in a calmer, more predictable setting. He would do best in a stable home where he can relax, decompress, and feel secure. He may enjoy the company of another well-matched dog, particularly a female his size or larger, but he would also be perfectly happy as the center of attention in a quieter household. He cannot live in an apartment.

Sampson is neutered and up-to-date on all age-appropriate vaccinations.
Training & Support
Sampson is house-trained and crate-trained. He walks well on a leash and is not reactive to people or dogs, though he does require proper introductions to other dogs. He is not food aggressive and does not exhibit destructive behavior. He is vocal when playing.

Sampson is currently located in Texas. He will travel to the Niagara Region once an appropriate adopter or local foster is found.
