Meet Hatchi!
Hatchi is a soulful young adult Akita/Siberian Husky mix whose essence is a whirlwind of energy wrapped in a majestic tricolor coat and anchored by a loyal, tender heart. He's a 90-pound oversized teddy bear who’s still adjusting to life with only one working eye, the result of stabilized glaucoma. Though he may see shadows, sudden movements can startle him, especially during walks. He melts into affection and is eager to please, especially when treats are involved! This intelligent boy responds to his name, is crate trained, and house-trained. He has lived harmoniously with young children aged 7 and 8. Whether you’re curled up on the couch or working on training together in the yard, Hatchi will be right by your side, ready to soak up your affection and offer his loyalty in return.
Ideal Home
Hatchi thrives with a confident, experienced caregiver who can help him feel grounded and secure. A fenced yard is essential, not because he’s tried to escape, but because his Husky instincts and natural curiosity make outdoor safety a must. He may do well with a calm, female dog companion but would not be compatible with cats.
Ongoing Health
Hatchi has stabilized glaucoma and will need eye drops for the rest of his life. Thankfully, his love of treats makes this task pretty manageable. He is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.
Training & Support
Hatchi is strong on leash and reactive to dogs, cats, bikes, and cars that pass by, so he needs someone who’s comfortable working with large breeds and understands the power of positive reinforcement and patient training. His sensitive nature means he looks to his human for reassurance, and with the right support, he has the potential to blossom into a truly remarkable companion!
