Shawshank is a 3-year-old, 43-pound Heeler mix with very good bones and a huge heart. Rescued from neglect, he is now safe, healthy, affectionate, goofy, and happiest close to his people. He loves giving kisses and is ready for a patient person who can help him continue his comeback.

Ideal Home

Shawshank needs an experienced, patient adopter who can provide structure, consistency, and time. He can do well with other dogs following slow, appropriate introductions, though his social style is enthusiastic and pushy. He is best suited to a home without cats or young children.

• Vaccinated and neutered
• Previously suffered neglect, including unreliable access to food and water; no diagnosed medical conditions are reported

Training & Support

• Crate trained
• Potty training and house manners are in progress
• Leash manners are still being developed
• Very affectionate and people-oriented
• If adopted before completing his training program, his adoption includes six sessions with the training partner when the adopter is local
