Penny is a gorgeous Rhodesian ridgeback mix weighing approximately 50 lbs, and she is the sweetest girl! She's about 1 year and 3 months old and was found in a cemetery in January of 2026 with many other dogs, fending for herself. Despite her tough start, Penny is incredibly loving and trusts people implicitly. She's currently being fostered in a sanctuary in South Texas, patiently waiting for her forever home. Penny can be a little shy initially, but she quickly blossoms into a loyal and devoted best friend. She is very active and loves to romp and play, especially with other dogs and toys for tug-of-war. Penny also enjoys playing gently with pigs! She is a bit of an escape artist, motivated by curiosity and a desire to explore, but she always returns.
Ideal Home
An active home that wants an adventurous dog who will be a constant companion. Penny would thrive with another active dog to play with and tire each other out.
Ongoing Health
Penny is heartworm positive and has received a 30-day course of antibiotics. She needs to remain on heartworm prevention for 12-16 months and be retested afterward. She is spayed, current on vaccinations, and has been dewormed. She will receive a clean bill of health from a veterinarian before transport.
Training & Support
Penny is MOSTLY house-trained and will need consistency to achieve 100% mastery. She walks okay on a leash but would benefit from further training to perfect her skills. She has good recall once familiar with her surroundings.
