Meet Gemma, a precious Shih Tzu puppy born on March 27, 2026. Gemma was born without a tail and has some special needs due to abnormalities with her sacral and coccygeal vertebrae. These affect nerve function in her hind limbs, meaning her gait is not normal, and she also has challenges with bowel and bladder control. Despite these challenges, Gemma can live a full and happy life with the right supportive care and a loving home.

Ideal Home

Gemma will thrive in a home that understands and can provide the ongoing supportive care she needs. This includes manual bowel expression, bladder expression or urinary management, frequent cleaning and hygiene, and monitoring for potential complications.

Ongoing Health

Gemma requires specialized care for her bowel and bladder control. Wags is providing all her puppy vaccinations, deworming, spay surgery, bloodwork, and necessary X-ray/ultrasound diagnostics. Ongoing veterinary examinations will be important to monitor her neurologic function, comfort, and overall quality of life.

Training & Support

Gemma will need dedicated owners who can commit to her specialized care plan. With consistent support and a lot of love, she can certainly be a wonderful companion.
