Johnny Cash

Johnny Cash is a handsome 2-year-old, 52-pound Sheltie/Heeler mix who spent a long time waiting at a rural shelter before finding his way to us. He's a dog who wins hearts quickly, leaning into affection and showing what a good boy he is. There isn't a mean bone in his body! Johnny Cash is smart, loyal, and eager to bond with his people. He walks nicely on a leash, is friendly with other dogs, and is even good with horses and not reactive to cattle. He's playful and adventurous, loves being outdoors, and enjoys long walks, but he's also happy to curl up for some couch time. He's an intelligent and observant dog who thrives with a person to love and a purpose.

Ideal Home

Johnny Cash needs a home that will offer him stability and love. Due to his prey drive, he cannot live in a home with cats or free-ranging chickens.

Ongoing Health

Johnny Cash is neutered. He has shown some anxiety surrounding vehicles, likely due to past experiences. While he has done well on car rides, it's recommended he travel securely in a crate or kennel to build his confidence.

Training & Support

Johnny Cash isn't a "project dog," but he can be a little unsure in new environments. With patience and consistency, his confidence will grow. What he needs most is belonging and a family to call his own.
