Meet Mashed Tater, but everyone calls him Tater! Tater is a dog who hasn't had the best start in life. He was rescued in November as part of a group of dogs from a home where he lived with nearly 16 other dogs. These dogs had never experienced the simple joys of feeling grass under their paws, wearing a collar, or walking on a leash. Their world was overcrowded and chaotic, requiring them to rely on a strong pack mentality to survive.
Out of this group, Tater seems to carry the deepest emotional scars. He is not a bad dog; he is a scared one. When he feels overwhelmed or threatened, he can react out of fear. What Tater needs is not punishment, but patience, understanding, and a dedicated person willing to help him feel safe in a world that has not always been kind to him.
Ideal Home
Tater needs a home without children. We are unsure how he would do with cats. He would do best with a confident dog who can tolerate him while he learns appropriate play, as his current play style can be a bit rough due to his past. An in-home environment is ideal, as a kennel setting may increase his fear.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned.
Training & Support
Tater is crate trained and house trained. He enjoys playing with other dogs, but his play style can be a bit rough. He needs someone experienced—either a trainer or a dedicated handler—who understands fearful dogs and is willing to invest the time to help him grow. He needs exposure to new experiences at his own pace, guidance to build confidence, and reassurance that he is safe.
