Melody is a beautiful and incredibly talented 5 to 6-year-old, 60lb German Shepherd with a heart full of love and a mind full of poetry! She arrived at the rescue hoping to find a way to express her desire for a forever home. One night, after lights out, we heard her "scribbling" and discovered a poem she'd written about her longing for a family. It was so eloquent and touching, it brought tears to our eyes! Melody is intelligent, observant, and would love nothing more than to explore the world by your side. She's an excellent walker and leash companion, leaning in for affection and always expressing her appreciation. While she enjoys a good game of fetch, she's just as happy to snuggle up with you in the evenings. Melody is also a social butterfly with other animals, getting along well with the horses, cows, goats, and donkeys at the Rescue Ranch. She's a bit selective with other dogs, preferring smaller canine companions, but would likely be happiest as the sole canine in her new home.
Ideal Home
Melody would thrive in a home where she can be your devoted companion. She'd do best in a home without other dogs, or with a very small, gentle dog.

Training & Support
Melody is a well-behaved girl who walks beautifully on a leash. She loves to cuddle and is eager to please her humans.

Transporation
Melody is currently being fostered at our Rescue Ranch near Houston, TX. She is an "out of town pet" and is not at this physical location. Rescue transport is available and comes through your area once a month. Transport is carefully managed by AJC Rescue & Transport, ensuring your dog's safety and comfort in climate-controlled vans with dedicated drivers. You will be included in a group chat to track your dog's journey and receive updates on their exact location and estimated arrival time.
