Misty Mae

Hi there! I'm Misty Mae, a 38lb Retriever, Spaniel, and Carolina Dog mix with an estimated birthday of May 14, 2023. I'm told I have a gentle soul and a heart full of love. My foster family rescued me from a gas station and gave me a second chance at life, and I've been making the most of it ever since! I'm a wonderful house guest, already housebroken and kennel trained, and I thrive on a good routine. I'm also pretty smart and food-motivated, which makes learning new things, especially with snacks, a joy!

My favorite thing in the world is being with my people. Whether we're out and about or just chilling at home, I'm happiest when I'm part of whatever you're doing. I have a playful side, but I'm just as content snuggling up and enjoying a quiet evening together. When I first arrived in foster care, I was a bit shy, but with patience and love, I've gained so much confidence. It's been amazing discovering how wonderful life can be when you feel safe.

Ideal Home

I get along well with small dogs and appreciate slow introductions to new canine friends. Larger dogs can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming for me, so I'd love a family that understands and can help me feel comfortable.

I am fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed.

Training & Support

I am kennel and potty trained. I'm always eager to learn, especially if treats are involved!

Application Details:

• Applications start by contacting us through Wags.
• Our adoption fees are based on the vetting we put into each dog. Fees for puppies (under 12 months) are higher because they require more vetting than dogs over 1 year.
• Listed breed and age are based on a best guess estimation by rescue and veterinary staff; DNA tests are not included in adoption.
• Our adopters are eligible to receive 50% off training with Curbed Behaviors Dog Training for programs booked within 30 days of adoption, and 25% off programs booked within 60-90 days of adoption.
• All of our adopters are invited to join our Alum Pupdates Facebook group, to share their story and their adorable pup with fellow Sunnyside Street Dogs adopters!

Transportation

I am located in Houston, TX, and transport is included in the adoption fee. Please note that pickup locations for transported dogs may vary, including to nearby towns or states. We coordinate with multiple transport services that operate weekly to Eastern states and bi-weekly or monthly to Western states from Texas to your state or a neighboring state. These are ground transports using third-party vehicles (vans/buses) converted for dog transport. Each adopter has the ability to track the van using the app Life360 and receives updates from transport along the way. Facebook chats are another resource to stay informed on tracking dogs on transport. Please be able to use one of these available services if you wish to follow your adopted dog on transport.
