Gina is a delightful 8-month-old spayed female Belgian Malinois mix, weighing in at 56lbs. She was found as a tiny puppy abandoned in a cardboard box near a busy road, a tough start that thankfully led her to a loving foster home. Now, Gina is ready to find her forever family and leave her past behind.
Ideal Home
Gina would thrive in an active home with a family who can provide her with daily play and exercise. She gets along well with familiar dog friends, including small dogs under 15 lbs and large dogs over 75 lbs, but would benefit from slow introductions to new canine friends due to a past negative experience. She is a bit too enthusiastic about neighborhood cats, so a cat-free home is recommended. Gina also seeks human attention and, while she hasn't been around children in foster care, a home with older, dog-savvy children (10 and up) would be ideal, as she can be jumpy when excited and doesn't realize her size.
Ongoing Health
Gina is a healthy pup with no known ongoing health conditions.
Training & Support
Gina is crate trained and making great progress with house training, showing no accidents when crated for up to 8 hours. She walks well on a leash and doesn't show signs of separation anxiety. Gina is in the "puppy velociraptor stage" and needs guidance on appropriate chew toys. She also prefers to enjoy her treats alone. Her foster family is working with her to understand her size and appropriate play. She will benefit from continued positive training, socialization, and plenty of outlets for exercise, play, and enrichment.
