Meet Benson!
Benson is a gentle, five-year-old mixed breed with American Pitbull Terrier, German Shepherd, Chow Chow, and other breed lineage. He's a large, 75-pound companion with a soft cream coat and soulful eyes, radiating loyalty, sensitivity, and quiet devotion. Benson is happiest when he's close to his people, enjoying car rides, window lounging, or cozy evenings. He's an intelligent boy who knows many commands like sit, stay, come, and even sweet cues like kisses and snuggles. His favorite activities include chasing balls, enrichment games, swimming, and enjoying a good chew. Benson is deeply devoted and loving once he connects with you, and he has impeccable house manners. He's also very intuitive and offers comfort by leaning in or curling up beside you when you need it most.
Ideal Home
Benson would thrive in a calm, structured environment with a securely fenced yard that is at least six feet tall, as he has been known to jump fences. He needs a home where he feels safe, supported, and understood. Benson is not compatible with cats and requires an adult-only home.
Ongoing Health
Benson requires medication to manage allergies and support his emotional balance.
Training & Support
Benson can be sensitive to sudden movements or sounds and may take a moment to warm up to new people. While he walks well overall, he can pull on leash, so continued guidance and positive reinforcement training will be beneficial. Benson is selective with other dogs and can be reactive with unfamiliar ones. He needs a thoughtful, well-managed environment to feel secure. While he has experience living with multiple dogs, there has been tension with one particular dog, leading to an altercation. Benson would do best as the only dog in a home, or with a caregiver who can provide very structured, gradual introductions supported by positive reinforcement training.
