Meet Happy, a charming and spunky 10+ year old, 12-pound Chihuahua mix who proves that age is just a number! Don't let his age fool you; Happy has a playful spirit, a bright personality, and a zest for life that would make anyone guess he's much younger. He's affectionate, gentle, confident, and incredibly devoted to his people. Happy thrives on closeness, whether it's snuggling on the couch, riding shotgun on a car ride, or just being by your side as you go about your day.
Ideal Home
Happy would do best in a home where someone is present much of the time, as he loves to be a loyal shadow. He gets along wonderfully with people and other dogs, and would likely enjoy a canine companion, especially one his size, though he could also do well with a respectful larger dog. While he may bark at other dogs initially, he's friendly and relaxed once he meets them. Happy can coexist with dog-savvy cats, but be aware he enjoys being a tiny neighborhood watchman and may chase if a cat runs, though he's easily redirected and not aggressive.
Ongoing Health
Happy has a few manageable medical needs. Most of his teeth have been removed, so he happily eats soft food. He also has an enlarged heart and takes one inexpensive pill daily, which is easily administered. He currently shows no signs of congestive heart failure, and his medication is helping him thrive.
Training & Support
Happy settles nicely at home and enjoys walks and car rides. He may need a belly band while adjusting to a new routine if left alone, so consistent supervision during the transition period is recommended. He responds well to redirection and is not aggressive.
