About Fox
Meet Fox - The Hunting Dog Who Only Wanted to Hunt for Love
Fox's story starts with heartbreak. As a large hound dog, Fox was expected to be a hunting companion. When he didn't meet those expectations, his owner decided he wasn't worth keeping and dumped him. Just like that, Fox lost the only home he knew, not because he did anything wrong, but because he wasn't the dog someone wanted him to be. We tried to gain his trust, but ultimately he had to be trapped. The truth is, Fox was never meant to be a hunting dog. Fox was meant to be someone's best friend. This sweet, gentle giant is neutered, fully vaccinated, and up to date on heartworm, flea, and tick prevention. What he lacks in hunting skills, he more than makes up for with love, loyalty, and one of the biggest hearts you'll ever meet.
Fox absolutely adores people and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. New environments and unfamiliar faces can make him nervous at first, and he may need a little time to feel safe. But once he realizes he's among friends, his true personality comes shining through—and it's impossible not to fall in love. He would thrive with another dog companion. He is submissive with other dogs. His favorite way to show affection? Wrapping his front paws around your shoulders for a big hound-dog hug. Fox doesn't understand personal space when it comes to the people he loves, and honestly, that's part of his charm.
Like any good hound, Fox has opinions, and he's not afraid to share them. He'll bark and bay to let you know exactly how he's feeling, whether he's excited, curious, or simply wants your attention. His voice is part of who he is, and hound lovers know there's nothing quite like it.
Fox is still learning some household manners. He isn't fully potty trained yet and can be hesitant about coming inside the house. Much of his life has been spent in a garage environment, so indoor living is still a bit new to him. The good news is that he's kennel trained and eager to please the people he trusts. I believe he would do great with older kids (he has been around a baby and did wonderful supervised), but he may knock down a toddler. And then there's Fox's funniest habit: he's a world-class kleptomaniac. Leave a glove unattended? Gone. A random sock? His now. A dish towel? Finders keepers. Fox delights in collecting treasures and turning them into a game of keep-away. Fortunately, his goofy grin usually gives him away before he gets very far.
Through everything he's experienced, Fox remains incredibly loving, forgiving, and hopeful. He doesn't know that someone once gave up on him. He only knows that every day is another opportunity to make a friend, get a hug, and maybe steal a sock or two. Fox deserves a family that sees him for who he truly is—not for what someone wanted him to be. He deserves patience as he learns, understanding as he gains confidence, and a home where he will never again be discarded for simply being himself. If you're looking for a loyal companion, a professional hug-giver, a canine comedian, and a dog who will love you with his whole heart, Fox is waiting to meet you.
