Sable

Sable is a 16-week-old, 20-pound bundle of puppy energy! This smart and highly trainable girl is a mix of Black Labrador Retriever, Akita, Husky, and Boxer. She's been living with a small child and parents, enjoying family time and attending doggy daycare where she's shown to do well with polite dogs. Unfortunately, her current family's lifestyle isn't the perfect fit for Sable's needs, so they're making the tough decision to find her the ideal forever home where she can truly thrive.

Ideal Home

Sable would do best in a home with adopters experienced with breeds that may have a dominant streak, like the Akita in her. She needs a family committed to continuing her training, providing consistent structure, and offering plenty of exercise and mental stimulation.

Ongoing Health

Sable is due for her third distemper/parvo and rabies vaccinations at the end of May. She has also received a Lyme vaccination, is current on flea, tick, and heartworm preventative, and had a negative fecal test. She is not yet spayed due to her age.

Training & Support

Sable has shown some resource guarding with her puzzle toys, biting when they were taken away. A trainer has evaluated her and believes this behavior stems from her Akita heritage and can likely be improved with consistent training and positive reinforcement. She is still very young and eager to learn!
