Blue is an 8-year-old Australian Shepherd with classic good looks, an eager-to-please attitude, and a devoted, people-focused personality. He thrives on human connection, consistency, and being involved in his person’s activities. Blue is looking for a home where he can be the only dog and enjoy plenty of one-on-one attention.

Ideal Home

Blue would be a great match for an Aussie lover who appreciates an intelligent, active adult dog past the puppy stage. He loves frisbee and fetch, has competed in disc dog competitions, and enjoys adventures with his people. His preferences with children are still being learned, so a calm, structured home and thoughtful introductions will be important.

Ongoing Health

The minimum adoption fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate, a heartworm test and preventative if age appropriate, flea and tick treatment, and spaying or neutering if medically appropriate. Future annual vaccines, testing, and monthly heartworm prevention are the adopter’s responsibility.

Training & Support

Blue is house-trained, has solid basic recall, walks nicely on a loose leash, and tolerates car rides well. Positive-reinforcement training with Green Dogs Unleashed is required for adoption. Preference is given to adopters who complete the six-week Canine 101 class in person at the organization’s Troy, Virginia headquarters. Limited consideration may be given to out-of-area adopters who complete one private lesson with Green Dogs Unleashed and attend a pre-approved positive-reinforcement class locally.
